Formed in Nashville in 1992, BlackHawk emerged from true songwriting powerhouses and a southern-rock pedigree. Founding members Henry Paul (formerly of the legendary Outlaws) and Dave Robbins teamed up with Van Stephenson to craft tight three-part harmonies, mandolin-infused hooks, and crossover country-rock hits that defined the mid-’90s era. Their self-titled 1994 debut went double-platinum, thanks to tracks like “Every Once in a While” and “I Sure Can Smell the Rain” that climbed the charts and earned the band a lasting place in country-music history.
